Our School
Bilingual education meets the requirements of a globalised world. The Bilingual Middleschool Zurich (BMZ) has developed a bilingual programme (German/English) with this in mind. The education programme follows the curriculum of the Canton of Zurich and teaching is in accordance with the immersion principle, with equal amounts of English and German.
Students are taught almost entirely by members of the Gymnasium staff in the German language subjects and English native speakers are responsible for the subjects taught in English.
The academic programme is innovative and demanding and the individual subjects are taught by specialised teachers. The school is aimed at students with a good working knowledge of both English and German who have set themselves the goal of transferring to the upper school of the Gymnasium which is concluded with the Swiss Matura.
The Bilingual Middleschool Zurich is located in Freies Gymnasium Zürich (FGZ). This means that students can transfer from BMZ into the upper school of the Gymnasium without changing schools.
The school has a five-day week with no school on Wednesday afternoons. Lessons last 40 minutes and the lunch break is normally 50 minutes.
